How does time pass so fast!

If anyone had asked i would've said i'd posted on the blog about a week ago. Yeah, no lol.
Lots of newness. Don't forget the texturemania 3 hunt if you haven't done it yet.

New colabs are out. I'm pretty happy with these ones:

And only 60 lindens per for another week. Halloween textures are coming, some are out already. I've also built some cute little Witchy Shops at 2 and 4 prims each.
Come by anytime !

zen creating

Sometimes when i am working in graphics i find myself making things that don't really fit with what i think would sell in 3d worlds. I question myself alot then and don't finish that set usually. Which i'm thinking is kind of odd maybe. Let me show you an example :
See what i mean? I love love the colours and the actual texture or 'tooth' of it. But it's probably not useful at all - you can see it has a very obvious blue line through it. I could take that blue away or make it go over the whole thing but that would take away from the lovely acid green or the yellow or red.
In any case, this is a texture i love and i think is creative as well. Not useful? well honestly i think it is : it has inspired me to look at ways to achieve a similar effect in a more usuable way. What think you?

I follow a zen business blog www.zenhabits.net . I particularily love this entry  . It concludes with a quote from one of my favourite writers ( i'm a big 'le petit prince' fan)

‘Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.’ ~Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry

Have a peaceful day or evening!

Vintage vineyard blues

I'm not actually blue - the title just happened from watching too many episodes of Treme lately . What a great show, excellent writing and not run of the mill predictable either. The music is of course wonderful, what you'd expect for something based in New Orleans.

I finished up the new colab packs that will be out Wednesday evening. I'm really happy with the vintage things i've been working on - i'm using copyright free old images and combining them with textures and text and whatnot. I love the 'tooth' of old paper.

This set will be on for 60L until Sept 8 th then goes to the regular price.
Oh and a second colab kit as well for lighting up the garden/vineyard. ( Can i say i'm glad i don't have to manage a vineyard? Must be a lot of work plus i'd probably just drink too much in the end lol)

This set is also 60L til Sept 8th .Sculpts and all :)
So other than working i've been doing not much of anything really. Reading quite a bit. Getting Halloween things ready - the 'guts' sculpts are still selling .. i do wonder what people are doing with them!

Has anyone else noticed how many shops are closing or have closed over the past couple of months? What the heck is up with that? There is always a downturn in the summer but people seem very affected by it this year.

Off to eat some breakfast and do yoga. Downward dog here we go :)

quilted silk and frozen blueberries

Woke up feeling all bleh and a cold coming on. Woot! So i'm eating frozen blueberries and thinking of new textures to make :)
My submission to Texturemania 3 is approved, to wit:

I've three different takes on Harriet - which was named after my great grandma.

New Quilted Silk textures are out at the SL shops and soon in Avination and Inworldz.

I'm afraid I don't have much else to say today. Boring! I need to get out and do more than just make textures lol.

hugs!
Im me if you'd like a free sample of the quilted silk type - I've made a maroon especially to give away :)

Erm well summers almost over - Back to blogging!!

Its been a crazy summer here at Chez Maitresse. Family issues, job issues blahdidiblah blah blah. I'm thankful for SL and its wonderfully distracting ways!

I have been working on some fab new textures, opened a shop in Avination again at the gorgeous Khan Omizu's new place. At the moment my shop - and of course Angyl Cristole's Saffron Textures & Sculpts - are in the Full Perm Hunt. It's on until  August 30th so get your booty over there ! The prize from me is:

These are beautiful textures and are semi transparent in the solid (un puckered) stripe areas. There's a second box for sale as well.

This weeks Colab is out - my contributions are:

Colab is a fantastic idea. There is a new component to it now - non full perm Colabs. I'm hoping to get some of my builds and Shabby decor in that eventually.

In the works - Texturemania 3 is coming up- stayed tuned for a preview of my set for it.

The other thing I've been working on is getting my Second Life marketplace stuff up to date. By the time I do that the magic boxes will likely be a thing of the past!

Ok. Blogging will return to it's normal couple of times a week. Tomorrow I'll share my lovely new Quilted Silks.
Happy Creating!

Sex Change?

lol nevah! But i did rise to the challenge of Dagmar Haiku's ' switch your gender for 0 lindens'. Flickr stream So here we go fashion lovers!
Presenting Uncle Prim! or um Mr. Couturier? dunno lol

He's a bit The Rock like maybe?

Skin: free if you answer the survey 'how did you find this shop' from Sacred Skins
Body: by me from the basic body supplied by sl
Clogs: B&B Proud, free on the marketplace
Boxing Gloves: Mindshift Animations
Tattoo: Miss Jewel
AO: Ax-002 Basically Boy AO (oracle) free on the marketplace
Clothing : Free Grey Pattern Underwear Set by Izzys Studio
Eyes: Mojo group gift
Sitting animations: Niamhinations!  MM Board Special-8-27 Male sit 27 and 28

My thoughts? I love the skin. The lips are awesome, the bloody nose ( i thought it was a scar lol) and the bandaid v. cool. I used the eye pop option on the body shape to make the left eye a bit closed looking too :).
The AO is a bit..er...animated lol. He skips he jumps he squats he swirls his arm in the air. I'd be editing this majorly if i had to really use it.Niam's animations though are great and they are always on the mm board.
The clogs are just ok, but i ran out of time to find anything better. I love the underwear set, comes with an undershirt as well.
All in all as a newb , Uncle might get away with propositioning someone don't you think? lol
hugs

OH ps: Now open in Inworldz. And i'll be doing a new blog post shortly for some new sets.

Miss Marple and the Case of The Sore Hand

I've finally gotten a shop at Inworldz at the Builder's Mecca Sim. I'm across from my friend Khan Omizu's [K.O.] Textures and next to Matika's. Still working on it so there are just a few textures there at the moment.
I've run into a glitch - the top of my right hand starts to ached after an hour or so of using the computer. I may have to learn to use the pen tablet as a mouse after all i guess. Probably i should take a couple of days off  but i doubt i do that :)
I have finally gotten around to making proper sets from one of my favourite textures of late - and named them Miss Marple. Here are the boxes and samples :

Of course this blog also uses one of the brown patterns as the background ( as of this writing anyhow, i'm a big changer upper though i'm afraid. I once had a partner threaten to nail the furniture to the floor lol)
In any case these are for sale in Second Life and Inworldz.
I have to say the folks at IW are really welcoming and friendly. I found it easy enough to transfer over some lindens and most things work just the same. You'll find me there as 'Aunty Prim' although most likely i'll eventually make an account as Mai too.
Off to plurk and work a bit before the hand is too annoying!

dwarven av and new sets

The other day i was talking to Fnordian Link, he the amazing scriptor ect ect. He was telling me about Dungeons and Dragons Online. So i registered ( free for a basic account). I picked being a cleric and a dwarven woman. I think because it was  so opposite to the pretty sl Mai lol. Anyhow its a fun game. And it inspired me to get on with making some avatars for sl. I've had a few ideas on the backburner for a while. I'm still working on it but here's a reveal of the work in progress. This avatar will include skin eyes hair and an outfit when i'm done.
She's pretty short and nicely muscled. Her outfit is made using my "Maile Copper' which i keep thinking should be called "Maile Gold' but too late for that i guess. Her hair is green and from a set i've worked with from a full perm edition i bought. Tentatively called Amira ( the hair, the av i haven't named as yet ) Feedback anyone?

I've also added the other three colours for the Delicata Walls set

One more brand new set as well:

That's the news of the day. Oh, except to say join plurk! Once i figured it out its been a hoot

Sequins guts and Newness

I really need to blog more consistantly! I say all the time that i need more routine and then i avoid it lol.

I find it really interesting to check which of my products is selling the most on the second life marketplace. This past week it's been the Sequinning texture set which to me is more winterish?

And also the Sculpted Guts set. Is there something about spring that brings out guts lovers? :P

I did do a new set or two this week including ' Delicata Walls' in blue. Adding it in other colours today.

I'm inspired to do some more flowery art type textures today. So you know, that means most likely the new textures i get will be all grunged out and dark lol.

Time to work! Got to burn off that Key Lime pie

New Sets up, Goats on the Roof and Sheep!

I'm working on reorganizing my entire shop inventory. It's a big job but really fun. I've found a few boxes of textures that i want to revisit as well.

Also, newness! I bought some great new grunge and victorian brushes. Yesterday i released " Harriet darkly" a sort of gothic dark patterned and striped set.

And " Weathered Checks" which remind me of old prairie houses and their painted kitchen floors. I've seen a few of those houses  and the textures are very interesting, blistered and splintery too.

You can find them at my shops in Second Life and my shop at Builders Boulevard in Aviation.

In the works for this week are some new skirting / pleated textures. And making fatpacks of some of my fabrics . Like this one

I managed to add grass to the roof of my main shop in SL, and got goats a la 'Old  Country Market' in Coombes BC. And then my friend Mabe Pearl bought me sheep for my birthday! I love sheep, being a spinning dyer and knitter in my rl life :)
 Time to eat birthday cake!
